I have many years of experience serving our City of Vallejo. I am currently a City of Vallejo Planning Commissioner. I was also Vice Chair of the Architectural Heritage and Landmarks Commission. I am the District Librarian for Vallejo City Unified School District.
I believe that current and future development of Vallejo should prioritize people over cars.
.
I value a pedestrian friendly way of life. I will make decisions regarding development with that in mind. I believe our District 5 locations must be reachable by foot, by public transportation, and by bicycle. District 5 sidewalks must be accessible, period, for our people that use mobility devices including scooters and wheelchairs. Pedestrian friendly means environmentally friendly and less wear and tear on streets.
I pledge to work hard for District 5 as a city council member. I would be grateful for your vote.
I serve on the City of Vallejo Planning Commission. One of the things that I am most proud of is the revision of the Zoning Code. This has allowed for higher-density housing (think more affordable). It has also opened up more possibilities for pubs, restaurants and entertainment. Because of this work, I can immediately address our District's needs as your council member.
I also served as the Vice Chair for the Architectural Heritage and Landmarks Commission. Much was accomplished during my time there making the reuse of the Historic Core on Mare Island a reality. Since these projects, I have truly come to know that the greenest use of an older building is to reuse it. This creates steady work for carpenters, painters, artisans, and other workers.
I am the District Librarian for Vallejo Schools. It is a privilege to serve the students and staff. Librarianship is not just about books. It is also about research and verifying information sources. How can you tell if a post on social media is really true? Run it through the CRAP test (Currency, Relevance, Authority, Purpose). It's one of my favorite lessons to teach high-schoolers. I put these skills to work every day for a Strong Vallejo.
Additionally, I served on the Board of Loma Vista Farm. My work there was during the first phase of the new housing for the animals. I volunteered for the Empress Theater assisting with ticket sales and other tasks.
